What the Business Brain Is
The Business Brain is the private store of files, notes, customer history, and rules your AI helper works from. Here is what it holds and how to find it.

The Brain is the asset
The Business Brain is a private, per-account store of your business context: files, notes, customer history, FAQs, quote templates, service rules, decisions, emails, financials, and meeting notes. Your AI helper does not guess about your business. It works from what is in the Brain, and it cites where each answer came from.
Everything in the Brain belongs to your account only. Documents are stored in your own isolated space, and a snapshot of your stored files is backed up daily.
Both helper runtimes (OpenClaw and Hermes) read the same Brain, so whichever helper you use, it works from the same business context. See How Agents Work for more on the runtimes.
Where it lives in the dashboard
Open Business Brain in the dashboard sidebar (/dashboard/brain). The page has five tabs:
- Overview: a summary of what is in your Brain and what needs attention.
- Upload: drag-and-drop uploads, receipt photos, and the Connected sources section (read-only Google Drive and Google Calendar imports).
- Library: every document, with a viewer that shows the readable text, where each item came from, and the original file.
- Knowledge: pages compiled from your documents (a business overview, timeline, and more), with citations back to the source.
- Ask: ask a question in plain language and get an answer with the evidence it was built from.
A few more views exist off the main tab bar for occasional use, including Search, Beacons (attention items like deadlines and contradictions), Insights, and a Health check of your document collection.
The Brain completeness meter
The main dashboard page (/dashboard) shows a Brain completeness bar from 0 to 100%. It is a deterministic score computed from concrete readiness signals, such as whether you have uploaded your own business material. It is an honest instrument, not an AI opinion, and it weights your own documents most heavily. The fastest way to move it is to upload real business context.
How content gets in
- You upload it: files dropped into the Upload tab. See Adding Documents.
- It mirrors in automatically: inbound email to your helper’s managed mailbox, and inbound texts if you have an SMS number, are saved into the Brain as they arrive.
- Connected sources: an optional read-only import from one Google Drive folder and your Google Calendar. See Connected Sources.
- Your helper writes notes: the helper can save notes back into the Brain as it works. See How Agents Use Your Brain.
What the Brain does not do
The Brain is a reference store, not an action system:
- It never sends, posts, or changes anything outside your account. Outward-facing actions go through the review step in your Inbox instead.
- It never writes to Google Drive or Google Calendar. Those imports are read-only.
- It is not a CRM. People and companies mentioned in your documents show up as entities you can browse, but there are no pipeline stages, custom fields, or edits.
- Receipt capture reads receipts for reference only. There is no bookkeeping or accounting integration.
Availability
The Business Brain tab appears when the Brain feature is enabled for the platform. If you do not see it in your sidebar, it is not turned on for your environment.
