Meet Your Helper

Your first conversation, your helper's name and mailbox, your first Brain uploads, and your first reviewed draft.

1. Your Workspace Is Starting

There is no “create a helper” button. An ordinary signup provisions OpenClaw in your private workspace. On the dashboard you can watch the customer-path readiness state:

  • “Waking — usually 10–40 seconds.” while a helper boots
  • “Queued — waiting for capacity. We’ll start your agent automatically.” if capacity is momentarily full

Pro customers can explicitly add Hermes later from the runtime switcher. Signup never installs it automatically. Both runtimes work from the same Business Brain. See how agents work for the differences.

2. Upload One Real Business Document

The first primary action is one real upload: a price sheet, FAQ, service rule, quote template, contract, or other document your business actually uses. BrainRoad shows upload, processing, and indexing state while it turns that document into searchable context.

Starter includes $5 of managed model use automatically. You do not need an AI-provider account or API key during first-run activation.

3. Review the Grounded Welcome Draft

After the upload is successfully indexed and the exact OpenClaw path is ready, BrainRoad creates one private welcome demonstration grounded in that document. The draft cites the uploaded source and waits in Inbox. Nothing is sent to a third party.

4. Approve or Decline in Inbox

Open the grounded draft, check its citation, edit it if useful, and approve or decline. That is the core workflow: real context first, draft second, human review third. Learn more in the approvals overview.

5. Continue Building Your Business Brain

After the first approval unlocks the full dashboard, add more real context: contracts, meeting notes, customer examples, and policies. Text files process quickly; PDFs and images are read in the background.

6. Use Advanced Settings Only If You Need Them

Managed model access remains the normal default on Pro. Advanced users can add a supported provider key from Settings for direct provider billing or broader model choice. See Choosing a Provider.
